Vol. 14 No. 02 (2025): ToMS ~ Special Issue ~ July 2025

It is with great pleasure that we present the new issue of Transactions on Maritime Science, which stems from the collaboration with the 11th International Maritime Science Conference (IMSC 2025), held on May 8–9, 2025, in Split. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Split, in partnership with the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport from Portorož, as well as numerous other domestic and international institutions.
This year’s conference brought together researchers, professionals, and students from various countries under the common theme “Navigating the Future: Decarbonization, Digitalisation and Safety.” Among the many high-quality papers presented at the conference, this issue features selected ones that stood out for their relevance, innovation, and scientific merit.
The topics of the papers reflect the current challenges in maritime affairs – from safety and digital transformation to sustainability, the human factor, and seafarer education. What connects them is a shared focus on adapting to a rapidly changing technological, environmental, and social landscape, where the maritime sector must simultaneously rely on science, experience, and the resilience of its people.
The authors include researchers from Poland, Japan, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia, Hungary, Spain, and Croatia, giving this issue a distinctly international and interdisciplinary character.
As guest editors, we thank all the authors and reviewers for their dedicated work, and the conference organizing team for their enthusiasm, support, and collaboration, which enabled this significant scientific achievement.
